Summary
This role leads a team of front-end web developers – part of a multi-disciplinary product team which
focuses on envisioning, designing, developing, and delivering customer facing commerce and
engagement experiences for our family of brands. This role is responsible for hiring, developing, and
managing talent for our front-end team and be responsible for task management, capacity planning,
process development, continuous improvement, and the professional development of members of
your team. This is a hands-on role – carrying out regular team coaching and mentoring, while leading
by example through hands-on project management, technical design review, development, and
support.
Responsibilities :
- Keep up to date on emerging trends, technologies, and market developments.
- Ensures that the front-end development team is consistently delivering working software that
is attuned to requirements and adheres to quality standards.
Coaches and mentor’s members of immediate team to develop the skills and practicesnecessary for individual development and realization of our business goals.
Contributes to establishment of talent pipeline.Provides solutions to process, project, and organizational issues within the team throughcommunication and consensus building.
Leads multiple simultaneous development projects and helps the team prioritize aroundconstraints, timing, and capacity.
Leads front end development team through change and helps them to arrive at technology,process, and personnel solutions and improvements.
Ensures that front end development team understands agile practices and is adhering tothese practices.
Collaborates on the development and maintenance of standards for front-end technology.Responsible for all aspects of product / project delivery, including cross-functional teamcollaboration.
Communicates and collaborates across product team boundaries to ensure alignment ofpurpose and focus on priorities that bring value to the business.
Understands the priorities of the business and cross-functional product teams and ensuresthat the development team is focusing on delivering value in these areas.
Interfaces with managers of other functions to operationalize platform strategy.Scope of Decision Making
Devises and implements internal team processes that maximize the efficiency of the team.Actively engaged with leadership at all levels across the larger front-end team and canengage in and assist with decision making that impacts the team as a whole.
Maintains knowledge of and can effectively choose how to enact Agile principles within theteam to achieve business goals.
Understands the process and technology decisions of cross-functional teams and how theseimpact the day-to-day operations of the front-end development team; can communicate
internal team processes to partners where they might impact other team processes and
decision making.
Acts independently and with good judgement to fulfill projects; knows when to managecomplexity up.
Develops a broad working knowledge of product team goals across the platform and cancommunicate these to front end development team.
Can identify and manage up decisions made within the font-end team that could impactother areas of the platform or business.
Can identify and manage up third-party vendor relationships and technical issues that couldimpact other areas of the platform or business.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills
Ability to provide strong, consistent leadership and prior experience managing a team ofdevelopers.
Strong background in front-end development with both technical and visual expertiseExpert in Web Standards, HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptDeep knowledge of and discipline in the application of Web development best practicesExperience with agile methodologies and supporting practices, tools, and technology.Experience with automated testing, continuous integration & deployment, and supportingtools and technology.
Years of Related Experience & Education
10-12 years hands-on site-building experience, with a focus on retail brands orother environment with very high standards for presentation-layer build / customer
experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of Web developers, preferably in a heavilycross-functional environment.
Experience leading developers organized into product teams using Agile methodologies.Experience working for retail brands or other environment with very high standards forpresentation layer is a plus.
E-commerce experience preferred.Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
