Job Description :

1. Processing of all samples received in the department according to the department SOP during his shift.

2. Cross matching of blood for all requests received during his shift.

3. Issue of blood and blood components.

4. Preparation of blood components according to the department SOPs.

5. Testing of donor blood for blood grouping and all Transfusion transmitted diseases.

6. Timely dispatch of reports to the patients.

7. Maintenance of daily component stock.

8. Maintenance and updation of all registers.

9. Routine maintenance of equipment.

10. Escalation of abnormal reports, technical and maintenance problems to the Consultant and Technical Supervisor.

11. To assist nursing staff in phlebotomy.

12. Maintaining a good interdepartmental communication.

13. Participating effectively in hospital infection control policies including hand washing, bio medical waste management, cleaning and fumigation protocols, needle stick injuries protocols, spill management.

14. Should be involved in the blood donation camps.

15. Should maintain a good communication with donors and should be helpful for donor retention.
