Job Summary :
The Remote Procurement Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting procurement activities for a California-based general contractor specializing in construction projects. The role focuses on supplier management, quote comparison, order placement, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials while maintaining strict compliance with project and regulatory requirements. This position requires expertise in construction procurement processes, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to managing remote operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Supplier Communication and Relationship Management :
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and suppliers, ensuring consistent and effective communication.
- Develop and nurture strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable delivery of quality materials.
- Resolve supplier performance or delivery issues promptly to avoid project delays.
Quote Comparison and Negotiation :
Solicit and evaluate multiple vendor quotes to secure the best value for materials and services.Conduct market analysis to identify cost-reduction opportunities and new supplier options.Negotiate favorable terms with vendors, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.Order Placement and Tracking :
Generate and process accurate purchase orders aligned with project timelines.Track and monitor the status of orders to ensure timely deliveries and resolve delays proactively.Maintain an organized system for purchase orders, invoices, and delivery receipts.Compliance and Quality Assurance :
Verify that all purchased materials meet California building codes, project specifications, and quality standards.Ensure supplier compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.Address and resolve any material non-compliance issues.Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain a comprehensive procurement database, including vendor details, pricing, and material specifications.Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost analyses, and savings achieved.Provide accurate documentation for audits and compliance checks.Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) are advantageous.Experience :
2–3 years of procurement experience, with a strong preference for candidates in the construction industry.Familiarity with California-based suppliers and knowledge of construction materials is highly desirable.Skills and Competencies :
Proficiency in procurement software such as Procore, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.Strong analytical and negotiation skills to secure the best deals.Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a remote work environment.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
