Job Title : Merchandise Finance Planner

Reports To : Head of Merchandising / Finance

Salary : ₹6-7 LPA

Job Summary :

The Merchandise Finance Planner at Citykart Retail will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of merchandise performance. The role involves working closely with the buying, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure financial objectives align with inventory planning and sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Financial Planning & Budgeting :

  • Develop and manage merchandise financial plans, including sales, margin, and inventory forecasts.
  • Collaborate with buying teams to align financial plans with assortment and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare seasonal, annual, and long-term merchandise financial plans.

2. Inventory & Sales Analysis :

  • Monitor sales, gross margin, and stock performance to optimize inventory levels.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product profitability and minimize markdowns.
  • Conduct weekly / monthly performance reviews and suggest corrective actions.

    • 3. Pricing & Promotions Support :

  • Evaluate the financial impact of promotions, discounts, and pricing strategies.
  • Provide recommendations on markdown strategies to improve sell-through rates.

    • 4. Data Analysis & Reporting :

  • Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales trends, stock turns, and profitability.
  • Use data analytics tools to provide insights into product category performance.

    • 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Work closely with the finance team for budgeting and P&L management.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and operations teams to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Support store teams with sales and inventory insights to drive revenue growth.

    • Requirements

    Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Retail Management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in merchandise planning, financial analysis, or retail finance.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, data analytics tools, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

    • Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies

  • Deep understanding of merchandise planning systems and inventory management software
  • Experience with advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling and trend analysis
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data visualization tools

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in value retail or fashion retail industry.
  • Knowledge of retail planning software like SAP, Oracle Retail, or similar tools.
