The Garments Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring the smooth coordination between the design production and sales teams in the garment manufacturing process. This role involves managing product lines from the initial design concept to delivery while ensuring that products are produced on time meet quality standards and align with client specifications. The Merchandiser will work with suppliers buyers and production teams to maintain optimal product flow and profitability.

Key Responsibilities :

Product Development & Sampling :

Collaborate with the design and production teams to create seasonal collections and ensure that designs align with market trends.

  • Manage the sampling process ensuring that samples are made on time meet design specifications and are of high quality.

Material and Fabric Sourcing :

Identify and select appropriate materials fabrics and trims that meet the quality standards and cost constraints of the collection.

  • Coordinate with fabric suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Production Planning and Coordination :

    Work with the production team to create detailed production timelines for each garment order.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external manufacturers to ensure that production deadlines budgets and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor the production process to ensure adherence to schedules quality requirements and cost constraints.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management :

    Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure efficient procurement of materials and production services.

  • Negotiate pricing payment terms and lead times to ensure profitability and timely deliveries.
  • Resolve issues that may arise with suppliers or manufacturers regarding production delays quality control or shipping.
  • Costing and Budgeting :

    Work with the finance and production teams to ensure accurate costing for each product taking into account materials labor and overhead costs.

  • Review and approve final production costs ensuring they stay within budget.
  • Order Management and Delivery :

    Handle orders from clients and ensure that products are delivered on time.

  • Oversee inventory management to ensure that products are available as needed and there are no shortages or excess stock.
  • Quality Control and Assurance :

    Monitor the quality of finished garments ensuring they meet the companys standards and customer expectations.

  • Conduct quality checks throughout the production process and address any defects or issues.
  • Market and Trend Analysis :

    Stay updated on fashion trends competitor activity and consumer preferences to inform the design and manufacturing process.

  • Analyze sales data and feedback to forecast demand for specific garments and adjust production plans accordingly.
  • Client and Customer Communication :

    Act as the point of contact for clients ensuring their requirements are met and that they are informed of the status of their orders.

  • Address any concerns or questions from clients regarding product details order status or delivery timelines.
  • Documentation and Reporting :

    Prepare and maintain detailed records of orders production schedules costs and delivery timelines.

  • Provide regular updates to management on the progress of production and any potential issues that may impact timelines or budgets.
  • Requirements

    Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor s degree in Fashion Merchandising Apparel Production Textile Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience : 5 years of experience in garment merchandising fashion design or manufacturing.
  • Skills :
  • Strong understanding of garment manufacturing processes and production techniques.

  • Familiarity with textiles fabrics trims and production timelines.
  • Excellent negotiation communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint Word) and experience with ERP systems.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
  • Knowledge of garment industry trends and customer preferences.
