AM / DM Banking Legal

Job description : Position : AM / DM Banking Legal Reports to : Direct Reporting to Head of Legal and Dotted line to Chief Treasury Officer Base location : Dubai, UAE Job Description : The role holder is responsible for providing support in review of banking and finance documentation, legal research and assisting with the KYC compliances. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the banking and finance sector. Relevant experience would include working in a law firm as a member of the banking practice or in-house in a large organization specializing in banking and finance related matters. Primary responsibilities : Reviews and drafts policies and regulations to ensure consistency with applicable law Performs other similar or related duties such as interpreting laws, keeping abreast of legislation Drafts, reviews and negotiates all service contractual arrangements, other smaller value contracts Prepares legal document such as legal memoranda, letters, deeds, mortgages, leases, and contracts, etc., for meeting the legal document requirements of GMG Ensures contract compliance control for all contracts to the law of land and the regulators, if any and as per contract administration and management process established in company. Studies constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for legal issues related to the company Conducts computerized and non-computerized legal research and analyzes the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents Keeps abreast with all regulatory and local law related updates / changes which might impact the legal terms and conditions for company banking and finance contracts and highlights them within the department Acts in accordance with the instructions issued and complies with the instructions related to confidentiality of contracts and refrains from conflicting business interests Reviews and Draft for various facility documents including Facility Agreement, Pledge Agreement, Inter Creditor Agreement, Corporate Guarantee, Letter of Comfort Self-Management : Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the reporting manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the year Takes ownership of his / her own learning agenda by identifying development needs in consultation with the manager and agreeing on the individual development plan which goes beyond just training and development Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth Education qualification and desired experience : Bachelors Degree in law. Common Law Jurisdiction qualified. Additional qualifications as a Company Secretary (ICSI or ICSA) would be useful Skills required : Excellent computer literacy MS Office, MS Outlook, knowledge of ERP is good to have Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, especially e-mail correspondence Strong time management skills Additional Skills : Legal research skills An understanding of business and key business concepts Broad legal subject matter expertise Familiarity with LMA documentation Exposure to English Law Exposure to African Market (Preferably) Behavioral competencies : High level of integrity & confidentiality Quick learner and able to grasp business knowledge A motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills Highly adaptable and down to earth to work with various level of people across the organization Travel : No travel required Compensation : Competitive (depending on the level of experience)
