About the role :
Applications are sought for the 2026 clinical year commencing in February 2026 for one year with possible extension. To be eligible to apply for this position applicants must be PGY4+.

Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol & Drug Services (MHJHADS) provide health services directly and through partnerships with community organisations. The services provided range of services from prevention and treatment to recovery, maintenance and harm minimisation. Consumer and carer participation is encouraged in all aspects of service planning and delivery. MHJHADS works in partnership with consumers, carers and a range of government and non-government service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. The Division delivers services at several locations, including hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, detention centres, other community settings including people’s homes.
If you are appointed to an accredited psychiatry training position, you will work in a series of RANZCP accredited psychiatry training posts under supervision of accredited RANZCP supervisors. All RANZCP Fellowship requirements can be met in the ACT RANZCP Training program, and you will be able to access the ACT RANZCP Formal Education Course.

You must email ACT RANZCP Branch Training Committee on CHS.PsychRegTraining@act.gov.au to request an 'Application to Commence Training - ACT' form to complete and submit with your application.
b) Applying to transfer RANZCP Training to ACT :
If you are already a RANZCP trainee seeking to transfer to the ACT RANZCP Program, you only need to apply for the position with Canberra Health Services. It is advised to contact the RANZCP Branch Training Office in the ACT on CHS.PsychRegTraining@act.gov.au to discuss your training needs in advance of the application to discuss your specific training requirements.

Referee Requirements :
You only need to submit one set of referee reports which will be used for both your employment with CHS and your application for psychiatry training with RANZCP.
You must submit three (3) referee reports on the RANZCP referee report forms. RANZCP referee report forms can be provided on request for referees to complete and send directly to the office of Director of Psychiatry Training. Please email CHS.PsychRegTraining@act.gov.au for referee report forms.
If you have submitted RANZCP referee reports via the CHS e-recruit system, it is not necessary to separately send these to the ACT RANZCP Branch Training Committee.
You must provide at least one referee report from your current direct supervisor.
If you are seeking to transfer your RANZCP training to ACT, you must provide a referee report from your current or most recent RANZCP Director of Training or a letter of good standing from your current or most recent RANZCP training program.
