Role Overview
The Psychology Counsellor will be responsible for providing professional psychological counselling, emotional support, and mental health interventions to students and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, strong ethical values, and experience in both preventive and therapeutic mental health programs within educational or institutional settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and group counselling sessions to students and staff on personal, emotional, and academic concerns.
- Develop and implement mental health awareness programs, stress management workshops, and preventive wellness initiatives.
- Identify individuals at risk and design intervention plans in collaboration with faculty, administration, and the Wellness Centre team.
- Maintain confidential records and ensure compliance with ethical and institutional standards.
- Conduct psychometric assessments and interpret results for student development and guidance.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and provide appropriate referrals when needed.
- Contribute to policy formulation and strategies for promoting holistic wellness across campus.
- Collaborate with departments to create an inclusive, mentally healthy university culture.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related discipline (Ph.D. preferred).Minimum 7 years of professional counselling experience, preferably in a university or institutional setting.Strong understanding of student mental health issues, developmental psychology, and behavioural interventions.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.Proficiency in English; fluency in additional Indian languages is an advantage.Desirable Attributes
