Job description10–12 years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable (AP), ideally within the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding industry. Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end AP operations, including team leadership and performance optimization. Proven ability to : o Build and lead a high-performing AP team, fostering accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Standardize AP processes across multiple locations to ensure scalability and operational excellence. o Ensure internal control compliance to minimize financial risks, penalties, or losses. Manage vendor payments within agreed credit terms and ensure Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) targets are consistently achieved. Oversee and verify all payments for compliance with company policy and local statutory requirements. Prepare and analyse AP reports, including actuals, forecasts, budgets, and cost trends. Collaborate with cross-functional teams during internal / external audits, statutory filings, and group-level financial reporting. Drive automation and process improvement initiatives within the AP function. Ensure timely remittances to principals and adherence to all contractual obligations. Partner with senior leadership, providing actionable financial insights and recommendations. Lead tax, compliance, and regulatory activities related to Accounts Payable. Support management through financial analysis, dashboards, and presentations that inform decision-making. SAP (FI Module) and AP automation tools; SAP S / 4 HANA experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and Power Point. In-depth understanding of reconciliation, taxation, and financial controls. Familiarity with shipping industry finance processes, including agent / principal remittances. Strong stakeholder management and vendor relationship skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities. Detail-oriented with a proactive, process-driven, and improvement focused mindset.
Qualifications :
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Commerce, Accountancy, or Finance.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost Accountant qualification preferred.
