We’re looking for an Upwork Consultant who understands the freelance ecosystem — someone who’s been there, done that, and knows how to win projects, manage proposals, and communicate with clients effectively.
This is a part-time, high-impact role where you’ll help us grow our presence on platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, Fiverr, and Toptal, bringing in relevant project opportunities for the startups under First500days.
Role Overview
As an Upwork Consultant, you’ll be responsible for identifying suitable projects, writing compelling proposals, communicating with potential clients, and helping convert opportunities into projects. You’ll act as the bridge between our internal team and prospective clients, ensuring that our proposals reflect both capability and clarity.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow First500days’ profiles on Upwork and similar platforms.
Identify relevant projects in design, tech, AI, marketing, and other startup services.
Write effective, personalized proposals tailored to each client’s needs.
Communicate with clients on Upwork, handle queries, and schedule discussions.
Collaborate with internal teams to understand deliverables and scope for proposals.
Track proposal success rate, client communication, and pipeline updates.
Build a structured process for consistent outreach and platform visibility.
Stay updated on Upwork best practices, algorithms, and category trends.
Requirements
1–3 years of proven experience managing Upwork or freelance bidding accounts.
Strong written communication skills — clarity, professionalism, and persuasiveness.
Understanding of how to structure proposals, pricing, and client follow-ups.
Experience handling client conversations and requirement gathering.
Basic understanding of startup services — tech, AI / ML, design, or marketing.
Familiarity with CRM or project tracking tools (HubSpot, Notion, etc.) is a plus.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with accountability.
Nice to Have
Experience in multiple freelance marketplaces (Freelancer, Fiverr, Toptal, etc.).
Prior experience in sales, client onboarding, or project scoping.
Exposure to startup ecosystems or agency environments.
