Job Purpose

To drive improvements in productivity and collaboration across Sage through the use of technology. We champion the adoption of Microsoft, Atlassian and AI solutions, including tools such as Jira, JSM & Confluence. Our mission is to promote both new and established tools, guiding best practices and encouraging innovative technical problem-solving to address internal customer challenges. We work as part of a collaborative team environment, actively contributing to team objectives and key results. We need to keep aware of updates and changes in the Atlassian suite and proactively sharing relevant information and insights within the wider Atlassian community. By sharing knowledge, upskilling teams, and leveraging our expertise with Atlassian and AI technologies, we empower others to resolve issues independently. Through coaching, enablement, and fostering a culture of continuous learning, we aim to deliver real, quantifiable value to Sage.

Key Accountabilities

The key accountabilities for this role are to :

  • A detailed technical understanding of the Atlassian suite and the ability to leverage the tools to drive improvements to maximize efficiencies and collaboration across teams using the technology.
  • Technical evangelist for Atlassian products with a passion for co-creating technical solutions with internal customers. Driving alignment and standardization, with a global first approach.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in supporting productivity through adhoc solution development, direct engagement, and partnerships.
  • Technically direct the governance, architecture and the standard best practice use of Atlassian toolsets.
  • Build relationships with key members of other core business functions and Technology teams, to influence the correct use of Atlassian with a focus on Jira, supporting knowledge transfer and training of the applications.
  • Provide expert guidance on Jira and Confluence best practices, including site architecture, content management, and user permissions.
  • Develop use cases and content for learning experiences focusing on user adoption, collaboration, and productivity.
  • Keep yourself up to date on the latest digital and technology developments particularly with a focus on Atlassian roadmap and AI.
  • Leverage your technical knowledge to write, produce and present technical articles, videos, and presentations. Keep up to date on technology advances with a focus on Atlassian, sharing your knowledge in the active user community.
  • Develop and maintain Jira solutions, ensuring they are built based on requirements and agreed standards.
  • Be knowledgeable to troubleshoot and resolve Atlassian-related issues, providing timely and effective support to users.
  • Provide modern and flexible ways of working for our colleagues, exploiting data and intelligence, improving the stakeholder experience when using Atlassian.
  • Be part of a self-managed, autonomous team, working together to collaborate, identify and achieve the right solution and approach.
  • Uphold security and privacy standard practices and ensure that security is embedded in each activity.
  • Continually learn and facilitate the democratization of technology.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in Atlassian development and administration is crucial, with hands-on experience configuring, maintaining, and customizing Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools.
  • Essential to possess a blend of technical, interpersonal, and strategic skills
  • A solid understanding of workflows, automation, and integration with other business systems will ensure solutions are both efficient and scalable.
  • An understanding of multiple technical areas : such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Power Suite, SaaS productivity products.
  • Skills in project and change management, stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to upholding security and privacy standards are important.
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent, including Atlassian Certified Professional, as well as experience with agile methodologies and IT service management frameworks.
  • Ability to be flexible and organised with a product backlog and multiple inflight products and projects.
  • Good communicator and comfortable talking to people, both individually and in front of a group, experienced in providing technical support, training, and guidance to end-users.
  • Able to influence while problem solving and build customer and partner relationships.
  • Be able to work independently and cross-collaborate, working in a fast-paced environment where technology and customer requirements change regularly.
  • Possess a passion for technology, continuous learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
