Lab Technician-TPU APAC

Huntsmans Polyurethane division is now looking for a Lab Technician. This role is an individual contributor and located in Jinshan Site.

Responsibilities :

As the Lab Technician, your responsibilities include :

Within the TPU business, the job holder is responsible for carrying out defined experiment tasks including machine operation, sample preparation, trial and test on TPU, including injection molding, extrusion, physical testing, DSC / TMA, and batch synthesis under guidance from the application manager and product technology scientist. You will report the results within an agreed timeline. This job holder will also be responsible for lab 5s, chemical storage, machine WI / JSA, and related EHS work for the application team.

To ensure that all existing safety standards and procedures are fully met in accordance with existing policies and company objectives and to ensure that all experimental activities are carried out according to these standards. To maintain a safe working environment around him / her, both for his / her own safety and for his / her neighbors. The job holder is requested to assess all potential hazards and to communicate them to his / her supervisor and other team members to ensure that appropriate and adequate training on all safety aspects is received.

To conduct routine lab procedures required for preparation and testing on various TPU materials to support new product development.

Operation of injection molding machine, extrusion machine, physical testing machine (Instron, abrasion, elastic recovery, etc.), DSC / TMA, batch synthesis machine, haze meter, and other possible new testing machines.

To record experimental data and keep a well-organized and detailed lab book, updating data on time to supervisor(s).

To understand all employed techniques and their routine operation. To be responsible for lab instruments including JSA / WI preparation and update if any change, and also annual calibration.

Support characterization for production line trial when new products are scaled up from the lab to the production line.

Support ATC colleagues on machine setup if needed.

Lab area 5s.

Lab chemical storage management.

Skills and Experiences Required : Training and Education

• College degree in chemistry, material or polymer science (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in polymer synthesis / formulation, preferably in polymer synthesis and polymer characterization.
