Founding Technical Lead / Back-End-Heavy Full-Stack Engineer (MERN)

Job descriptionIntegrate LLM services for auto-generated tech packs, smart RFQ comparisons, and conversational vendor chat. Evaluate tools such as OpenAI, LangChain, Pinecone, or fine-tuned in-house models. Select and configure the cloud stack (AWS / GCP / Azure). Set up IaC, CI / CD pipelines, staging, and blue-green deployments. Source and manage DevOps contractors as load scales. Establish code-quality, observability, security, and data-privacy baselines (SOC 2 journey). Maintain living architecture documentation and run design reviews. Partner with founders on hiring plans. Conduct technical interviews, onboard early engineers, and foster a high-ownership culture. MERN expertise : 5+ years building production-grade Node / Express APIs and MongoDB models; comfortable contributing to React when needed. AI / LLM integration experience : (OpenAI, embeddings, vector DBs, etc.) Cloud & DevOps fluency : Docker, Terraform / Pulumi, GitHub Actions (or equivalent). Security mindset : OAuth2 / OIDC, RBAC, rate-limiting, and secure SDLC familiarity. Startup DNA : Shipped 0→1 products, thrives in ambiguity, and communicates crisply with non-technical stakeholders. Experience in supply-chain, PLM, or fashion-tech. Familiarity with event-driven or microservices architecture (Kafka, NATS, etc.). Infra-cost optimization and performance tuning skills. Prior leadership experience managing distributed engineering teams. Competitive salary. Full ownership of the technical roadmap and a green-field codebase. You’ll own architecture, DevOps, and team growth while delivering the features that move the needle for our early customers.
What You’ll Do
1. Design & Build the Core Architecture
- Craft a multi-tenant back end using Node.js + Express.
- Model MongoDB schemas for design assets, RFQs, POs, and workflow events.
- Deliver clean, versioned REST / GraphQL APIs for the React front end and third-party integrations.
