We’re looking for a Systems Engineering professional to join our Enterprise Computing Support team. You’ll collaborate with customers who operate some of the world’s most advanced supercomputing clusters. You will work hands-on with High-Performance Computing (HPC) technologies, Cloud Computing platforms, and tools used to configure and handle large-scale compute environments.
You will diagnose issues will perform root-cause and performance analysis, and handle technical critical issues. You’ll also support L1 teams with HPC Works software and chip in to both internal and customer-facing documentation. Success in this role requires curiosity, adaptability, and a strong enthusiasm to build skills across the entire HPC hardware and software stack.
What You’ll Do
Solve, analyse, and fix HPC and cloud-related issues.
Perform root-cause analysis, including performance investigation and core file analysis.
Partner with L1 Support to diagnose and resolve technical challenges in Altair HPCWorks.
Provide Intracompany documentation
Build multi-functional relationships with the team and customers.
Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and HPC concepts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
Tight-knit collaboration and social skills across teams and leadership levels.
Ability to adapt quickly, learn new concepts, and work through unfamiliar challenges.
Solid grasp of Altair’s High-Performance Computing suite (preferred but not required).
Preferred Experience
Hands-on with HPC system administration and issue tracking.
Expertise in networking, filesystems, and parallel filesystems.
Proficiency in scripting (Unix / Linux shells) and programming languages such as C / C++, Go, or Python.
Experience with HPC workload managers (PBS Pro, Grid Engine, LSF, SLURM, etc.).
Familiarity with debugging tools (gdb, valgrind, gstack).
Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP, UDP) and security tools / practices (SSH, OpenSSL, SELinux, AppArmor, firewalls).
Understanding of certificates and certificate authorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise multiple support requests.
Ability to work independently, handle time effectively, and stay focused during quieter support periods.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to users and team members.
Availability for occasional travel.
