About the Role :

As the PRRT Accountant your key purpose is to perform the PRRT tax effect accounting process for Australian Operations within the Group Accounting team.

The position is responsible for the planning and delivery of the monthly, annual and reporting period end PRRT accounting deliverables. The role works in conjunction with the Finance function (specifically Tax, Group Financial Control, Financial Performance and Planning).

Duties & Responsibilities :

The Group Accounting team is part of the Group Financial Control division and are responsible for financial accounting of corporate processes. The team comprises a number of financial accountants who collaborate to deliver Group accounting requirements.

Key aspects of the role include :

  • Manage the monthly notional PRRT tax effect accounting process for the Australian projects.
  • Manage the period end PRRT tax effect process and deliverables for the half-year review and year-end annual reports, including calculation, review and analysis of deferred tax balances at each reporting period.
  • Manage PRRT tax effect accounting for subsidiaries, including assessment of deferred tax balances, and preparation of tax disclosures required for statutory financial statements.
  • Maintain all required PRRT tax effect accounting documentation for subsidiaries and the Group.
  • Provide support to the Tax team during the period end PRRT tax effect process and PRRT return process, in liaising with the business, providing financial accounting data and any other ad-hoc support required.
  • Provide support to the budgeting and planning team in reviewing budgeted tax estimates and assumptions on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Analysing accounting standards and providing technical accounting advice on PRRT accounting to internal stakeholders.
  • Engagement with the internal and external auditors.

Skills & Experience :

We are looking for a degree qualification in accounting, finance or similar, and holding CA / CPA status backed up by demonstrated post-qualification experience in a professional accounting environment.

Your background will include tax effective accounting, ideally with exposure to PRRT or other similar tax / royalty regimes. You will be adept at preparing statutory financial reports, support by excellent knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.

As this role will require you to interact with multiple stakeholders across multiple functions and jurisdictions, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will have built high-trust relationships on the back of delivering exceptional outcomes for the business.

Commercial acumen and strong attention to detail will see you excel in this role.
