Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, popularly known as GITAM was founded in 1980 by an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh led by Dr M.V.V.S. Murthi, former Member of Parliament and popular philanthropist.

The vision of MAHATMA, the Father of the Nation was to see India as a socially and economically resurgent country and he looked upon education as an important means to achieve this goal. Gandhis view of education was not narrow or sectarian. He envisages universities as institutions of higher learning that transcend all linguistic, racial and other barriers. GITAM is committed to imbibe his values and abide by his philosophy.

• The Dean oversee the academic integrity and quality of programs in areas such as Psychology, English, History, Sociology, Political Science, Media Studies and other related fields. Supports and advances intergenerational relationships through an active dialogue about Humanities education and research within the School, College, and University with leaders in the humanities profession and other educators.
• The candidate should demonstrate leadership qualities to support the programs goal of excellence by supporting and mentoring faculty teaching, research, and service; by creating and supporting research and funding opportunities; by fostering program development and growth; by expanding relationships with the relevant profession; and by leading the program to continue to achieve accreditation.
