Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on, senior Snowflake expert who has both administrative and development experience in managing, securing, and optimizing large-scale Snowflake instances. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing our Snowflake SaaS instance (purchased through AWS), integrating with tools such as Prefect, dbt, and Python-based data pipelines, and ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
Snowflake Administration
Manage and maintain the Snowflake SaaS environment, including user roles, security, data sharing, and integrations.
Monitor system performance and proactively tune configurations for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
Administer Snowflake features such as SnowSQL, Snowpipe, and Tasks / Streams.
Oversee data ingestion and transformation pipelines within Snowflake.
Configure and manage SSO (Single Sign-On) and IAM integrations with AWS.
Security, Governance & Compliance
Implement best practices for data access controls, encryption, governance, and auditing.
Define and enforce policies around data privacy, masking, and secure data sharing.
Collaborate with IT and InfoSec teams to ensure compliance with internal and external security standards.
Integrations & Automation :
Maintain integrations with Prefect, dbt, and Python-based workflows.
Automate Snowflake administrative tasks (e.g., user provisioning, warehouse scaling, monitoring).
Collaborate with developers and analysts to ensure seamless data operations across the stack.
Cost Optimization & Performance
Monitor credit usage and identify opportunities to reduce compute and storage costs.
Analyze query patterns and workloads to optimize warehouse sizing and caching strategies.
Provide ongoing insights and reporting on usage metrics and efficiency improvements.
Development & Support
Support data engineers and analysts with SQL development, schema design, and performance tuning.
Troubleshoot and resolve Snowflake-related issues in data pipelines.
Contribute to architecture improvements and adoption of new Snowflake capabilities.
Requirements
Qualifications Required :
Senior-level professional with solid, proven industry experience in Snowflake administration and engineering.
Deep expertise in SnowSQL, Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, Roles, and Resource Monitors.
Experience with AWS ecosystem (IAM, S3, Glue, etc.) and Snowflake deployment via AWS Marketplace.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and dbt.
Experience managing SSO integration and identity management for Snowflake.
Familiarity with Prefect, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools.
Strong understanding of data governance, security controls, and cost management in Snowflake.
Preferred :
Experience with CI / CD for data pipelines.
Experience with other AWS services and integration services with snowflake
SnowPro Core or Advanced certification.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
Excellent communication skills (English proficiency required).
Self-starter, able to work independently across time zones.
Collaborative and documentation-oriented approach.
