Quality Council of India (QCI) is the apex Quality body in the country, in partnership with the Indian industry. It is an independent autonomous organization created by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry. QCI leads a nationwide quality movement in India by involving all stakeholders, with emphasis on adherence to quality standards in products, systems, and services for promoting and protecting national interest and health and safety of its’ citizens. QCI plays a pivotal role in propagating, adopting, and adherence to quality standards in spheres like education, healthcare, environment, governance, social sectors, infrastructure, and such other areas of organized activities that have a significant bearing in improving the quality of life of the citizens and economic development of the Nation.

QCI’s  Project Planning & Implementation Division (PPID)  is assembling a dynamic team for a national initiative to strengthen  quality and quantity assurance across India’s food supply chain : from procurement to distribution.

Division : Project Planning & Implementation Division (PPID), QCI

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in leading a national initiative to evaluate and strengthen quality and quantity assurance mechanisms across India’s food supply chain ecosystem.
  • Design and implement evaluation tools, checklists, and sampling methodologies.
  • Oversee field assessments covering procurement, storage, movement, and retail nodes to ensure adherence to prescribed norms and quality parameters.
  • Supervise and guide field teams across selected states, ensuring uniform implementation and accurate documentation of findings.
  • Ensure the integration of Quality Management System (QMS) and / or Quantity Management System (QtMS) frameworks into field and data protocols.
  • Coordinate the collection, validation, and analysis of field data to identify systemic and operational gaps in quality and / or quantity management practices.
  • Translate field evidence into actionable insights and structured recommendations for system improvement.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to develop a Quality and Quantity Assurance Maturity Matrix for benchmarking practices across states.
  • Support the design of performance monitoring indicators, dashboards, and feedback mechanisms for continuous quality improvement.
  • Prepare and review interim reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and client submission.

Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Strong background in quality assurance, food systems, or supply chain management with exposure to large-scale field or evaluation projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-state operations, team coordination, and process standardization.
  • Sound understanding of quality management frameworks, SOP compliance, and audit processes.
  • Analytical mindset with capability to handle quantitative data, performance matrices, and digital data systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across government, field, and analytical teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; comfortable operating in complex, time-sensitive environments.
  • High ownership orientation with commitment to precision, integrity, and accountability in every output.
  • Experience & Qualification

  • Experience :  5–8 years in quality assurance, supply chain evaluation, consulting, or public system monitoring (experience with food systems or government-led programs preferred).
  • Qualification :  Postgraduate in Management, Food Technology, Agriculture, Public Policy, or related fields preferred.
