Data Power Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IBM DataPower Developer to join our

integration team. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in

designing, developing, configuring, and supporting services using IBM DataPower Gateway

(XI52 / IDG / X3 appliance or virtual). This role requires a strong understanding of integration

patterns, security standards, and API management best practices.

Key Responsibilities

 Design & Development :

o Design, develop, test, and deploy DataPower services, including Multi-

Protocol Gateways (MPGW), Web Service Proxies (WSP), XML

Firewalls (XFW), and Loopback Services.

o Implement complex message transformations using XSLT (or GatewayScript)

for formats like XML to JSON, JSON to XML, and SOAP to REST / vice

versa.

o Configure service routing, logging, and error handling mechanisms within

DataPower domains.

 Security & Policy Enforcement :

o Apply and manage security policies, including AAA (Authentication,

Authorization, Auditing) policies, TLS / SSL (Certificates), and

cryptographic functions.

o Implement security standards like OAuth 2.0, SAML, and JWT (OpenID

Connect).

o Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards.

 Collaboration & Mentoring :

o Collaborate with Architects, other development teams (Java, Microservices),

and business analysts to translate requirements into technical designs.

o Create detailed technical design documents, deployment guides, and

knowledge-base articles.

o Mentor and guide junior developers on DataPower best practices and

development standards.

 DevOps & CI / CD :

o Participate in improving the Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment

(CI / CD) pipeline for DataPower configuration using tools like Jenkins,

Git / Subversion, and DataPower CLI / APIs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

 Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a

related field (or equivalent work experience).

 Experience : Minimum 4 years of dedicated, hands-on experience with IBM

DataPower Gateway.

 DataPower Expertise :

o In-depth knowledge of DataPower objects : MPGW, WSP, XFW, FSH, Log

Targets, Handlers, etc.

o Proficiency in XSLT for data transformation and manipulation. Experience

with GatewayScript is a strong plus.

o Strong working knowledge of XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, and WSDL.

o Experience with encryption, digital signatures, and certificate management.

 Integration Technologies :

o Sound knowledge of SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) and

Microservices architecture patterns.

o Experience integrating DataPower with middleware like IBM MQ, Kafka, or

other messaging systems.

o Familiarity with an API Management Platform (e.g., IBM API Connect,

Apigee) is highly desirable.

 General Skills :

o Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

o Experience with testing tools like SoapUI, Postman.

o Familiarity with software development methodologies, preferably

Agile / Scrum.
