Founding Cloud Architect – Real-Time Traffic Brain (Day 1)

Your Mandate : The Real-Time Brain

As our Founding Cloud Architect, you own the real-time cloud platform that ingests telemetry from tens → hundreds → 100,000+ devices and serves low-latency guidance APIs in seconds. You think in streams, state, security, and SLOs – and you turn those into a coherent, evolvable system.

What You Work With : You’re comfortable living in most of this stack and excited to shape it :

Streaming & events : Kafka / Kinesis / Pulsar plus Flink, Spark Streaming, or ksqlDB; event-time processing, stateful windows, and exactly-once / effectively-once sinks.

• No Negotiable (Streaming & events) : Kafka / Kinesis / Pulsar plus Flink, Spark Streaming, or ksqlDB; event-time processing, stateful windows, and exactly-once / effectively-once sinks.
• Cloud & managed services : AWS (preferred) or similar – IoT / MQTT ingress, serverless or containers, managed databases, and caching (Redis / ElastiCache or equivalent).
• IoT & security : MQTT, TLS / mTLS, X.509 device identity, per-device policies / ACLs, encryption in transit / at rest, least-privilege access control.
• Data modeling : Geospatial and time-series data; per-segment / per-grid “hot state” in low-latency stores, plus efficient storage for historical telemetry and replays.
• APIs & latency : REST / gRPC (FastAPI, Flask, Go, etc.) on top of hot paths, tuned for p95 latencies in the low hundreds of milliseconds.
• Observability & operations : Metrics, logs, traces, health checks, dashboards, alerts; designing and running systems to explicit SLOs, with graceful degradation under partial failure.
