Desired Accounting & Finance Knowledge

• Core Accounting Concepts :
• Strong understanding of debits / credits, trial balances, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Awareness of how financial transactions flow into trial balances and reports.
• Familiarity with transaction types such as buy, sell, dividends, accrued interest, etc.
• Guidance & Frameworks :
• Knowledge of accounting frameworks (GAAP, IFRS) and their impact on reporting requirements.
• Ability to identify when accounting guidance affects system behavior or reporting.
• System & Data Flow Awareness :
• Understanding of data flow across financial systems – from security master, trade transactions, to ledger posting.
• Ability to connect upstream system events to downstream accounting outputs (e.g., trade bookings → expected debit / credit postings).
