Role and Responsibilities of a Drama, Acting & Performing Arts Teacher (Grades 1–12)
Role :
As a Performing Arts Teacher, your role is to inspire and guide students across Grades 1–12 in drama, acting, dance, and stagecraft. You will focus on preparing students for creative assemblies, cultural events, and full-scale productions, nurturing their confidence, creativity, and collaborative spirit. Beyond acting, you will bring technical expertise in voice-over recording, track generation, and choreography, enabling students to experience the complete process of performance — from rehearsal to stage.
Responsibilities :
Assemblies and Cultural Events
- Mentor students in acting, voice modulation, and stage presence for assemblies and cultural programs.
- Conceptualize and direct end-to-end musical dramas including script, rehearsals, technical setup, and final performance.
- Choreograph dance sequences for assemblies, annual functions, and inter-house competitions.
- Blend traditional and contemporary performing arts into school celebrations.
Technical and Creative Production
Guide students in voice-over recording, track generation, and audio editing using tools such as Adobe Audition or Adobe Premiere Pro.Teach basics of sound design, background scoring, and stage audio management.Collaborate with the school’s technical staff to ensure professional-quality productions.Student Development
Identify and nurture individual talents in acting, singing, dancing, or technical production.Support students struggling with confidence or stage fright, helping them grow through performance.Encourage teamwork, discipline, and empathy through collaborative projects.Event and Resource Management
Plan and organize annual cultural events, inter-house competitions, and special assemblies.Maintain inventories of costumes, props, scripts, and technical equipment.Prepare rehearsal schedules and ensure smooth coordination between students, staff, and administration.Collaboration and Professional Growth
Work closely with faculty to integrate performing arts into interdisciplinary projects.Attend workshops and professional development sessions to stay updated with modern theatre and production techniques.Actively contribute to AVM’s residential ethos of discipline, respect, and teamwork.Values and Atmosphere
