Overview

Redstone Manufacturing is a fast-growing sourcing company specializing in custom metal parts. We’re looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to strengthen our network of casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal suppliers. This role is key to ensuring our suppliers are capable, responsive, and aligned with our project requirements—especially during development and early production.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Sourcing & Qualification

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new metal manufacturing suppliers
  • Assess supplier capabilities, pricing, lead times, and risk
  • Conduct virtual or in-person supplier audits as needed

Quotation Management

  • Work with suppliers to gather quotes for customer RFQs
  • Clarify requirements with suppliers to ensure accurate pricing and feasibility
  • Compare cost structures and lead times across regions and processes

    • Development & Launch Support

  • Communicate part specifications and technical requirements to suppliers
  • Troubleshoot DFM or manufacturability issues pre-production
  • Manage timelines and supplier accountability during first article and pilot runs

    • Issue Resolution

  • Serve as the point of contact for development and production issues with suppliers
  • Coordinate with our China-based quality team when needed
  • Ensure suppliers implement corrective actions quickly and effectively

    • Cross-Supplier Collaboration

  • Occasionally support quote follow-ups or order-related tasks with other suppliers
  • Coordinate with internal project managers to keep timelines and expectations aligned

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in metal manufacturing (castings, CNC, or sheet metal)
  • Proven experience working directly with factories in Asia
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent project management and follow-through
  • Fluent in English
