Senior React Developer – Hydrogen Headless Shopify

Abelini Jewellery is a premium online-first jewellery brand known for bespoke designs, engagement rings, and fine craftsmanship. We are building the next generation of our ecommerce experience — a custom Hydrogen-based headless Shopify storefront deployed on Oxygen, designed for speed, performance, and world-class user experience.

We are seeking a Senior React Developer to lead this transformation. You will own the frontend architecture, set engineering standards, and drive technical excellence across our headless storefront project.

Role Overview

As the Senior React Developer, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of a next-gen ecommerce experience. You’ll work closely with product, design, and backend teams to translate business needs into scalable, performant, and elegant solutions — while mentoring junior developers and enforcing engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Development

Architect, build, and maintain complex UI components and features using React, TypeScript, and Hydrogen.

Design efficient data-fetching strategies with Shopify Storefront API, Customer API, and third-party integrations.

Lead implementation of advanced ecommerce features — custom product builders, configurators, checkout flows, etc.

Drive performance optimisation (lazy loading, caching, code splitting, SSR / ISR strategies).

Process, Delivery & Leadership

Own the end-to-end development process : sprint planning, task breakdown, code reviews, and deployments.

Implement best practices for version control, CI / CD pipelines, testing, and environment management.

Conduct regular code reviews and mentor junior developers.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Ensure proper documentation, maintainability, and scalability of codebases.

Deployment & Operations

Manage build and deployment pipelines on Oxygen, including staging and production environments.

Optimise edge runtime performance and implement caching policies.

Set up monitoring, error tracking, and performance analytics dashboards.

Required Skills & Experience

4–6+ years of professional experience building production-grade applications with React.js.

Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.

Deep understanding of component architecture, routing, state management, and SSR.

Proven experience integrating with REST / GraphQL APIs.

Hands-on experience with performance optimisation, accessibility, and SEO best practices.

Strong command of Git workflows, CI / CD, and agile development.

Ability to lead code reviews, define standards, and mentor junior developers

Nice to Have :

Experience with Shopify Hydrogen and Oxygen in production.

Familiarity with edge runtimes, serverless functions, and caching strategies.

Experience with ecommerce platforms or building custom storefronts.

Knowledge of observability tools (Sentry, LogRocket) and analytics tracking.
