Operations Careers at Byrnecut: Operators to Superintendents

Byrnecut is one of Australia's largest underground mining contractors. Right now we run 22 underground operations across the country: 20 in Western Australia and 2 in South Australia. We're part of the Byrnecut Group, with more than 8,000 employees and a multi-million dollar fleet of specialised underground mining equipment.

Our work covers gold, copper, zinc and lithium, and more, for some of the biggest names in Australian mining, including Northern Star Resources, Genesis Minerals, Gold Fields, Liontown Resources, Greatland Gold, 29Metals and Rox Resources. It's a mix of mining methods too, from long hole stoping and sub-level caving to decline development and autonomous equipment.

No two of our sites are the same, and they're at different stages:

• Steady, established operations. Long-running mines with settled crews and proven production. We've been at Jundee in the Goldfields since 2001, and at Telfer in the Pilbara since 2005.
• Sites ramping up. Kathleen Valley, our largest-ever contract, is building towards full lithium production. Golden Grove is expanding with a new mine on the way.
• New operations. In the last 12 months we've started at Gwalia and Ulysses near Leonora, and at Youanmi in the Murchison, so there's a chance to be part of a start-up from the ground floor.

That scale is what sets us apart. More sites, more pathways and more room to move than almost anywhere else in the industry. Whether you're running the equipment or running the shift, there's a place for you.

Roles we hire for

• Underground equipment operators (jumbo, bogger, truck, charge-up and more)
• Shift Bosses and Shift Supervisors
• Superintendents and Project Managers
• Mining Engineers, Geologists, Surveyors and technical services
• Other operations and support roles

What you'll do

• Work safely and look out for your crew
• Operate or lead underground production to meet daily targets
• Follow mine plans, procedures and site safety requirements
• Work with your supervisor, dispatch and crew to keep the job running smoothly
• Complete accurate records and inspections

What we're looking for

• Underground mining experience for operator and leadership roles (new to mining? See our Entry Level page)
• Relevant tickets and qualifications for the role
• A strong commitment to safety
• Good communication and a team-first attitude
