Role Overview
The Hyperion Consultant is a specialist role responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation solutions using the Oracle Hyperion EPM suite.
This position requires deep, hands-on expertise across key Hyperion applications (Planning / PBCS, Financial Management / FCCS, Essbase), ensuring the systems meet complex financial reporting and analytical requirements.
The incumbent will play a vital role in automating financial processes, improving data integrity, and providing end-user training and support to drive strategic business decisions.
Core Responsibilities and Implementation Deliverables
- Application Design and Development : Lead the end-to-end design, configuration, and implementation of Hyperion Planning (or PBCS / EPBCS) and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) or Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud (FCCS) applications.
- Data Model Management : Define and manage the metadata (dimensions, hierarchies, properties), ensuring integrity and alignment across the Hyperion applications and integration points with source ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle EBS).
- Essbase Cube Design and Optimization : Design, build, and optimize complex Essbase cubes (both ASO and BSO), including calculation scripts, business rules, and ensuring optimal cube performance for reporting and data retrieval.
- Calculation Logic and Business Rules : Develop and maintain sophisticated financial calculation logic, business rules, and scripting (e.g., MaxL, Calculation Manager, Groovy scripting) to support driver-based planning, allocations, and currency translation / consolidation processes.
- Data Integration : Configure and manage data integration processes using tools like Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) or Data Management (in Cloud EPM), including setting up import formats, mapping rules, and validation processes between source systems and Hyperion.
- Financial Reporting and Analytics : Design and deliver complex financial reports using Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio (FR) and Smart View, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and external reporting standards (IFRS / GAAP).
- System Maintenance and Support : Execute system administration tasks, including security management, patch management, application monitoring, and providing Level 2 / 3 functional and technical support during planning cycles and month-end close.
Required Qualifications :
Experience : Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience as a Consultant or Administrator working directly with Oracle Hyperion EPM products (Planning / PBCS, HFM / FCCS, and Essbase).Application Expertise : Deep, hands-on experience in the metadata, security, webforms, business rules, and reporting components of either Hyperion Planning (on-prem or Cloud) or Hyperion Financial Management (on-prem or Cloud).Essbase Proficiency : Proven expertise in designing, tuning, and maintaining multi-dimensional Essbase databases, including cube structure, data loading, and optimization techniques.Technical Tools : High proficiency in Hyperion scripting languages such as MaxL, Calculation Manager, and knowledge of SQL for data validation.Financial Acumen : Strong understanding of core Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) processes, budgeting, forecasting, and financial consolidation concepts.Communication : Excellent communication skills for presenting complex solutions to clients, gathering requirements, and conducting end-user training.Education : Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.Nice to Have Preferred Skills :
