AWS Data Governance Engineer

Job descriptionImplement and manage AWS governance tools (AWS Lake Formation, AWS Glue Data Catalog). Configure IAM policies, AWS KMS, and access controls for data security. Enforce governance policies across AWS services (Redshift, S3, Athena, DynamoDB). Develop monitoring and automation using AWS CloudTrail and AWS Config. Design data classification, tagging, and lineage tracking (e.g., Apache Atlas). Integrate governance controls into CI / CD workflows. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on frameworks like GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA. Proven experience designing and implementing AWS data governance frameworks. Strong knowledge of data privacy, security, and compliance best practices. Hands-on experience with AWS data services and IAM policies. Experience with large-scale cloud-based data architectures. Exposure to regulatory compliance initiatives (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA). Familiarity with automated governance enforcement and monitoring tools. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Management, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field. Preferred : AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or AWS Certified Security – Specialty. Plus : Certifications in data governance frameworks (DCAM, DAMA, etc.).

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Governance Engineer to design and implement data governance frameworks on AWS. This role ensures data integrity, security, and compliance with industry regulations while driving best practices across our cloud data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement data governance policies ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and adopt governance best practices in AWS.
- Monitor data quality, integrity, and lineage across AWS environments.
- Drive the adoption of metadata management and data cataloging solutions.
- Ensure data privacy and security controls align with organizational and legal requirements.
- Provide governance insights and training to internal teams.
