CrownVet is seeking a Specialist Surgeon or an Experienced Clinician with advanced surgical skills to become a key part of its pioneering Teaching Hospital in Mumbai, India. This exceptional role offers a passionate veterinarian the chance to raise the standards of veterinary surgery while shaping the future of veterinary medicine by mentoring India's next generation of veterinarians. Combining impactful clinical care, visionary leadership, and dynamic educational responsibilities, this position is set to drive transformative progress within the Indian veterinary field.
The Role
- Provide Exceptional Veterinary Care : Deliver the highest standards of veterinary surgical care and create an outstanding client experience, consistently upholding professional and ethical standards.- Comprehensive Patient Management : Manage all aspects of patient care, including consultations with pet owners, performing complete diagnostic workups, establishing accurate diagnoses, developing effective treatment plans, communicating home care instructions, and ensuring thorough follow-up care.- Perform Advanced Surgical Procedures : Execute complex surgeries, such as : Soft Tissue Surgery : Procedures include SUB, liver shunts, adrenalectomy, cholecystoduodenostomy, lung lobectomy, pericardectomy and minimally invasive techniques.- Orthopedic Surgery : Procedures include complex fracture repairs, TPLO, pelvic fractures, corrective osteotomies, arthrodesis, and TPO.- Neurosurgery (neurosurgical expertise is desirable but not essential) : Basic procedures like cervical ventral slots and hemilaminectomy.- Optimize Clinical Workflows : Educate senior veterinarians on efficient workflows to improve experiences for pets, associates, and pet owners, while promoting operational excellence.- Promote Preventive Care : Advocate for wellness plans and preventive care strategies to enhance pet health outcomes.- Team Leadership : Oversee surgical caseloads and scheduling while ensuring compliance with local veterinary regulations and adherence to CrownVet’s Code of Conduct.- Mentor and Develop Veterinarians : Train, guide, and supervise junior and senior veterinarians to enhance their clinical skills. Emphasize building senior veterinarians' teaching capabilities to prepare them as effective trainers and mentors. Additionally, support junior veterinarians in mastering essential clinical competencies while fostering a collaborative learning environment that encourages teamwork, shared knowledge, and practical skill development.- Talent Development : Identify and mentor veterinarians with the potential to excel in specific specialties, equipping them to become effective trainers and leaders within CrownVet.- Champion Organizational Values : Integrate the Mars Five Principles (Quality, Responsibility, Efficiency, Mutuality, and Freedom) into daily tasks and decision-making processes.- Enhance Operational Excellence : Drive improvements in hospital efficiency, profitability, and medical quality by implementing best practices and nurturing a collaborative team culture.- Continuous Improvement : Ensure the ongoing refinement of surgical protocols, infection control measures, pain management, and overall patient care standards.- Strategic Collaboration : Partner with field and hospital leadership to align on performance metrics and strategic objectives.- Adapt and Innovate : Apply curiosity and agility to tailor teaching and clinical practices to the unique needs of the local veterinary context.- Inspire Confidence and Growth : Demonstrate exceptional leadership and mentoring skills to cultivate confidence, inspire growth, and empower CrownVet veterinarians and associates.
Who are we looking for?
Board-certified specialists (ECVS, ACVS, or ANZCVS), residency trained or holds advanced certification / expertise in surgery- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) or equivalent degree required.- Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable veterinary board.- Membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) preferred.- Minimum six years relevant professional veterinarian experience in a pet clinic or hospital environment.- Minimum of four years’ experience in the area of specialization (Surgery)- Having at least two years of veterinary teaching experience in a clinical setting (pet clinic, hospital, or teaching hospital) is highly desirable.- Ability to handle multi-tasks and respond effectively to ad-hoc requests.- Proven ability to mentor and develop veterinarians, fostering clinical expertise and teaching skills while building cohesive, high-performing teams.- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership in clinical and educational environments.- A systematic and innovative approach to problem-solving and workflow optimization.- Proficiency in advanced soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgery.- Desirable but not mandatory : neurosurgical competencies, such as spinal decompression (hemilaminectomy, cervical corpectomy) and a willingness to further enhance these skills and competencies.Mars Veterinary Health has nearly 90 years of global expertise, including 30 years in veterinary services.
