Job Description
Plant IR Head - Blade plant HR – Trichy
10-15 years of work experience in managing factory HR&IR
role preferably in a unionized environment, Factory, and
contract labour & admin canteen.
Requirements
JOB Experience -
▪ Experienced in IR and sound in labour laws .
▪ Well versed in local language- Tamil, read ,write and speak effectively
▪ Comprehensive working on working knowledge, Labor Relations Act, Safety and
Environmental laws and related legislation.
▪ People management skills.
▪ Understand modern CSR and labor standards
▪ Build and maintain effective working relations with the management and employees
▪ Should have strong Interpersonal and Team Management Skill
Additional Information
1. Strategy & Planning
- Participate with the Group Head- HR, IR & Admin and Leadership in the formulation of
appropriate HR&IR strategies and agenda in line with business needs across the group.
Ensure healthy & cordial industrial climate and effectively managing the internal and externalstakeholders.
Prepare the Manpower Budget based on the annual forecast for the plant.Provide strategic decision support to the Plant Head to enable achievement of the annualtargets for the plant and for successful implementation of various initiatives planned.
Frame the HR & IR budgets considering both routine & strategic initiatives and ensuringefficient and cost-effective administrative services.
Designing Policies and Processesfor organizational development, performance management,compensation and benefits, capability building and retention management
2. Employee Relations
Ensure that all relevant labour laws & regulations are respected and complied with at theplant.
Responsible for maintaining industrial peace and harmony in a unionized workforce.Anchoring the collective bargaining process with the workers’ union (Internal / External)tactfully to ensure smooth wage / bonus settlements.
Ensure shop-floor discipline through appropriate disciplinary actions.Monitor and control recruitment of the workers at the Plant to ensure adherence tomanpower budgets and zero loss of production.
Oversee the working of the Employee Grievance Redressal Mechanism at the plant .Ensure effective management of contract labour and reduce costsWork with union representative for managing labour expectations and concernsMaintain good working relations with union and to play a key role in signing of the unionagreement (As applicable to the location)
Promptly highlight any legal issues at the Plant and provide inputs to the Plant and Head -IR & Personnel on the same.
3. Welfare, Canteen, Security
Oversee that welfare activities are conducted as per calendar within costOversee the canteen management & maintenance– cost vs budget, service levels on cost,service, quality
Handle the entire securitymanagement at all plants – hiring agency, deciding on cost, periodicreview of performance, attending to complaints, corrective action
4. Compensation Management
Participate with the Group Head – HR, IR & Admin in the process of devising the rewardsstrategy across companies, functions and levels
Prepare Rewards & Retention strategy for Leadership and critical levels in the organizationBenchmark employee compensation with the market to ensure that the company’scompensation is competitive in comparison to the market standards
Ensure successful implementation and management of reward systems, increments andpromotion policy and adoption of market best practices
Ensure that the compensation practices are in compliance to regulatory requirements5. Employee Engagement and HR Operations.
Provide counsel to the Functional Heads on a variety of personnel issues like employeediscipline, promotions, terminations etc. to facilitate effective decision making and ensure
compliance to all relevant policies, procedures and regulations.
Design HR&IR policies, processes and guidelines based on values, culture and work philosophyof the organization.
Design & drive Employee Engagement initiatives across the companyWork closely with employees and the management team to improve work relationships, buildmorale through engagement initiatives / programs.
Identifying early warning signals and raises awarenessin the management team.Oversee new joinee formalities, salary processing and full & final settlement.Ensure proper maintenance of all personnel records for all the employees of the organizationReview the exit analysis reports, and suggest corrective actions on any concerns that arehighlighted
Ensure up to date and accurate MIS and HR reports are prepared and submitted in a timelymanner covering recruitments and exits, initiatives undertaken, employee issues, etc
Provide ongoing coaching & guidance to HR Business Partners and provide direction in case ofambiguity
6. Discipline & Dispute handling
Review performance and actual labour costs at all the plants with assistance from Plant HeadHR & IR and recommend corrective actions, if required
Guide Plant HR / IR Headsin handling any blue collar related disputes with the contractorsAdvice Plant HR Heads in handling grievances which have been escalated and ensure that theyare resolved promptly
Oversee the handling of all-disciplinary proceedings and conciliation meetingsIdentify early warning engagement signals and raising awareness in the Leadership teamDevelop strategies to address concern areas of unions and workmen in discussion with PlantIR heads .
7. Administration :
Spearheading annual labor budgeting process in collaboration with factory management and theCorporate HR team.
Managing internal facilities such as Canteen, Transport,security & housekeeping etc.Plan and provide adequate health and safety measures in the factory premises.8. Audits and Statutory Compliance
9. Monitor adherence to allstatutory compliances at all the Plants, for blue collared employee and
contract employees
10. Ensure all statutory compliances related to hiring of blue collared employees, disputes, social
security, health, safety and working conditions
11. Review and ensure adherence to safety, environment, health and quality standards
12. Review the audit reports for necessary compliance and remedial measures
Maintain healthy relations with statutory bodies and government authorities at all locations and
provide support to statutory bodies during audits & inspections.
