The Role
This role is pivotal in ensuring that the products and services that are delivered are not only technically sound but also aligned with broader Defence priorities. It requires a clear understanding of the asset management and planning and a commitment to integrating estate outcomes with Defence’s long-term strategic objectives. The role is accountable to perform and achieve very complex contract management working within an integrated workforce.
The Director position demands both operational oversight and strategic foresight — balancing immediate estate needs with future capability requirements through genuine engagements and relationship building. A role that offers significant scope for leadership, influence, and impact across the Defence enterprise.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines / classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The Directorate of Estate and Land Management (DELM) sits within the Estate Service Delivery (ESD) Branch in the Service Delivery Division (SDD).The DELM Business Operations team is responsible for delivering the Estate upkeep. The team is a highly skilled, geographically dispersed team of APS and ADF professionals who are deeply committed to sustaining the Defence estate. Our work spans a number of critical deliverables through our Industry Partners - including Estate Upkeep, Firefighting Services and Land Management, each essential to maintaining operational readiness and capability. This complies with legislation and supports the daily activities of groups and services at various Defence facilities.
