Job Summary :
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized, with demonstrated experience in U.S. and international trademark portfolio management, docketing, and USPTO procedures. This role partners closely with Lowe’s attorneys, internal business clients, and outside counsel to safeguard the company’s trademarks and other brand assets.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage Lowe’s U.S. and international trademark portfolios, including filing, prosecution, renewals, oppositions, and enforcement activities.
- Prepare and file trademark applications, renewals, declarations, and assignments with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Coordinate with foreign associates on international trademark filings, statements of use, renewals, oppositions, and enforcement matters.
- Maintain and update the trademark docketing system to track and monitor all deadlines and filings.
- Conduct preliminary trademark searches and prepare summary reports for attorney review.
- Maintain organized electronic matter files, correspondence, and documentation within Lowe’s document management system.
- Support Lowe’s brand protection and enforcement efforts, including cease-and-desist letters, oppositions, cancellations, and online brand monitoring.
- Assist with domain name portfolio management, including registrations, renewals, and enforcement actions (e.g., UDRP proceedings).
- Respond to internal brand protection inquiries from business units, marketing, and customers.
- Assist with IP aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including due diligence and trademark and domain name assignment recordation.
- Maintain deposit accounts with IP offices and ensure proper tracking of fees and payments.
- Prepare and deliver quarterly portfolio reports summarizing filings, registrations, abandonments, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including marketing, merchandising, and global sourcing, to ensure compliance with trademark and branding standards.
- Keep supervising attorneys informed of deadlines, portfolio updates, and significant IP developments.
Minimum Qualifications :
5 to 8 years of experience as a trademark paralegal or IP professional in a corporate legal department or law firm.In-depth knowledge of USPTO procedures, WIPO / Madrid Protocol, and international trademark systems.Proficiency in IP docketing software and document management systems.Demonstrated experience managing U.S. and international trademark portfolios.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, collaborative approach.Education Qualification & Certifications (optional)
