The Role

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager (AI & Data Systems)  to lead the technical foundation of Zodiac’s intelligence stack. You’ll own everything from real-time scraping and backend infrastructure to AI automation systems that power insights and decisions for brands. This is a hands-on leadership role — part architect, part builder, part coach — ideal for someone who thrives in startup environments where speed and precision matter equally.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead design and development of scalable AI and backend systems.
  • Architect data pipelines that power real-time analytics and AI-driven automation.
  • Manage and mentor backend and AI engineers.
  • Oversee development of web scrapers, ETL workflows, and model-serving infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with product and growth teams to build intelligent features that drive impact.
  • Review architecture, enforce clean code, and ensure strong engineering standards.
  • Drive R&D for integrating LLMs, AI agents, and automation frameworks.
  • Monitor, debug, and optimize performance across data and AI systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–7 years of backend or AI engineering experience, with 1–2 years in leadership.
  • Strong command of  NodeJS  and  Python  (FastAPI, Express, or equivalent).
  • Experience building  AI pipelines  using LLMs, embeddings, or vector databases.
  • Proven experience with  web scraping ,  data ingestion , and  microservices .
  • Proficiency in  SQL  and familiarity with modern data systems (PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake).
  • Hands-on exposure to  AWS ,  Docker , and orchestration tools like  Dagster  or  Airbyte .
  • Strong understanding of scalable backend design and distributed systems.
  • Startup-first mindset — build fast, optimize later, own your outcomes.
  • Excellent technical leadership and problem-solving ability.
