Job Description Summary

GE Vernova Grid Systems Integration product line is globally recognized for designing manufacturing and delivering customized High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) solutions for utilities worldwide. With over 130 years of pioneering experience GE offers two HVDC technologies Line Commutated Converters (LCC) and Voltage Source Converters (VSC) to support a broad range of applications and deployable in different schemes including overhead line (point to point) back-to-back submarine / land cable and offshore.

Every HVDC solution is tailored and designed based on a project-by-project assessment of the customers individual requirements whether its for connecting offshore wind generation long distance power transmission or energy trading between independent networks.

The Plant Engineering Manager will play a key role in supporting the sales and business development by providing technical expertise in the design of electrification solutions for the HVDC Projects. This individual will be responsible for Plant Engineering system design material selection quantity estimation various engineering activities associated for a project and customer technical consultations. The candidate will also ensure that the proposed solutions meet customer needs while adhering to industry standards safety regulations quality requirements and cost-efficiency objectives.

The candidate shall execute with association of workgroups where applicable in order to meet assigned this role the candidate will work within defined parameters to make decisions apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

The candidate ensures leadership skills development and motivation of the teams manages engineering workload plan of the region allocates keys resources on the projects defines with Operations make or buy strategy for engineering activities. Candidate aligns processes and tools spanning ITO and OTR phases with Project Engineering function.

The candidate will work with GSI Global Engineering Centre (GSI GEC) to coordinate with the GSI Regions / Business Lines / as per Project requirement.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Specific Role Requirements :

• HV (Primary) designs for 132 kV and above GIS / AIS Substation Engineering for Grid Interconnected Projects
• Preparation of basic Single Line Diagram Layout Plan & Section of Overall plant Equipment control room Earthing Layout DSLP Layout Trench Layout etc
• Earthing design Lightning design Cable Sizing Battery Sizing Illumination system design Sag Tension calculation Short Circuit Force and Bus- bar Sizing as per IEEE / IEC.
• Project related all Equipment Selection / Sizing as per IEEE / IEC
• Evaluation of vendor Drawings GTP Calculation & Technical Specs
• ITO (tender) drawings BOQ estimation RFQ finalization & evaluation of various components selection of equipment with best pricing options.
• Ensure proper implementation of plant engineering process
• Convert project contractual documents into plant engineering requirements
• Define and / or control plant engineering planning for the project ensuring on-time delivery
• Release plant engineering deliverables as per project planning & cost without non-conformity
• Support plant engineering planning and cost estimation for the project
• Lead the plant engineers for the assigned project(s) and provide necessary support required for competency development
• Lead the design optimized substation & buildings layouts integrating all the required equipment considering their installation operation and maintenance constraints
• Interface with other disciplines
• Answer to client partners & suppliers technical queries related to plant engineering
• Organize and perform projects design / gate reviews related to plant engineering & support other disciplines ones when required.
• Lead change control impacting plant engineering deliverables & activities
• Support continuous improvement within plant engineering discipline
• Co-ordination and integration with Automation Civil & MEP.
• Co-ordination of site & office team for execution of project
• Flexible and quick to learn global developments / requirements and adopt.
• Knowhow of IEEE / IEC codes safety in design / EHS aspects AC substation industry engineering practices.
• Good Communication skills & capability to lead project independently along with Client handling.
• Team handling & development.
