JOB TITLE :   Coordinator of Afterschool and Community Partnerships

REPORTS TO : Chief of Youth, Family, and Community Engagement

NATURE OF WORK

High -level management and professional position requiring a wide variety of high-level skills relating to New Haven schools, students and families.  The Coordinator of Afterschool and Community Partnerships manages programs outside of school hours for children, working closely with schools and Community Partners to provide an enriching and educationally sound experience.  The Coordinator of Afterschool and Community Partnerships leads the planning and coordination of programs and their activities, monitors the implementation of program policies and practices, works to keep programs on schedule, within stated budgets and functioning smoothly and supports program growth and development as necessary. The Coordinator of Afterschool and Community Partnerships collaborates  with schools and partners in analyzing and  developing the structure of the program based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents, manages the program staff and operations, and maintains relationships with the community partners.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Builds relationships with schools, parents, and community partners to ensure support and commitment to afterschool programs.
• Establishes and leads regular meetings with community partners, parents, and school representatives to discuss the district goals for afterschool programs and seek feedback on how afterschool programs can better serve children.
• Works with the schools and community partners’ staff to analyze and develop appropriate afterschool programs and plan activities that are consistent with the mission and vision of New Haven Public Schools.
• Researches best practices in After School program and community partnerships and uses current research to continuously improve approaches and practices.
• Manages the evaluation and assessment procedures for the program through both formal and informal assessments.
• Analyzes the effectiveness of the program and provide progress reports to parents, schools, and community partners.
• Works with schools to recruit, hire and train staff.
• Develops and implements professional development plans for the staff to ensure the program maintains a high level of quality.
• Manages the operations of the afterschool program ensuring that the staff has the tools and equipment they need to do their jobs.
• Collaborates with appropriate district staff to monitor the afterschool environment for health and safety standards.
• Coordinates the financial management of the organization, including budgeting, contracts, purchasing, and accounts payable.
• Prepares grants, reports and presentations.
• Other duties as assigned.
