About the Role

Centennial is seeking a Strata Technician that wants to build a lucrative career in the mining industry and secure a role with our northern based operation – Mandalong Mine .

Conveniently located in the Lake Macquarie region, a short drive from Newcastle and the Central Coast, this role is an excellent opportunity to work in an Underground Longwall - based mining operation.

This key operational role presents the opportunity for qualified and committed personnel to contribute directly to the success of Mandalong’s mining operations and open the door to a secure future.

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, your responsibilities will include :

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain geotechnical monitoring instrumentation (e.g., tell-tales, extensometers).
  • Record and manage data relating to ground support installation and condition monitoring using the Strata Monitoring Database.
  • Coordinate and complete shiftly, weekly, and monthly tell-tale (TT) monitoring work orders.
  • Assist with underground inspections and strata condition audits.
  • Manage strata defects cards including review, inspections and organising rectification works with area superintendents.
  • Identify and report strata abnormalities, hazards, or alerts to relevant supervisors promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely upload of data into site systems.
  • Perform equipment calibration and routine servicing as required.
  • Support the technical services team with additional tasks and projects as directed.

    • Suitable candidates will have

  • Minimum 3 years of operational experience in underground coal mining
  • Practising Certificate as a Deputy (NSW)
  • Strong understanding of mine safety and environmental systems
  • Sound computer literacy skills and geological / geotechnical
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance record
  • Commitment to site safety and operational practices
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal suited to multiple audiences
