Perficient - Lead Automation Tester - Java / Selenium

Job Summary :

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Lead Automation Tester with 610 years of strong experience in test automation of web and API layers. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in Java, Selenium, Cucumber (BDD) frameworks, and hands-on experience in API testing using Postman or SoapUI. You will be a critical part of the QA team working closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders in an Agile environment to ensure the delivery of high-quality software Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, reusable, and scalable test automation frameworks using Java, Selenium, and Cucumber (BDD).
• Lead and coordinate all aspects of test planning, execution, and reporting in web and API testing domains.
• Develop automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing.
• Conduct API testing using Postman and / or SoapUI create test suites, perform validations, and automate API calls.
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts to clarify requirements and translate them into test cases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous testing efforts.
• Analyze test results, identify bugs, and track them to closure using defect management tools.
• Implement test strategies, improve automation coverage, and optimize test execution pipelines.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to process improvements across the testing lifecycle.
• Ensure alignment with best practices in test automation, CI / CD integration, and QA Technical Skills & Scripting :
• Strong programming knowledge in Java for automation scripting
• Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver for UI testing
• Strong experience with Cucumber (BDD) framework for behavior-driven testing
• Experience with automation framework design, enhancement, and Testing :
• Expertise in API testing using tools like Postman and / or SoapUI
• Ability to write automated API test scripts and validate JSON / XML responses
• Familiarity with RESTful and SOAP API Practices & Tools :
• Experience in Agile Scrum development environments
• Knowledge of TestNG, Maven, Jenkins or similar CI / CD tools
• Experience with version control tools like Git
• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, Skills (Nice to Have) :
• Experience with CI / CD pipelines and integrating test automation within DevOps workflows
• Exposure to cloud-based testing environments (AWS, Azure)
• Understanding of Performance testing tools such as JMeter (optional)
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification is a plus
