Experience – 20 to 27 years
1. Role Purpose
The Planning Manager / Head of Planning is responsible for developing, monitoring, and
controlling project schedules and planning systems for EPC projects. The role ensures that
engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities are properly planned,
coordinated, and executed within contractual timelines, budgets, and resources.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Planning & Scheduling
Develop baseline project schedules (Level 1–5) in Primavera P6 / MS Project as per
contract requirements.
Prepare detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, logistics, and construction
schedules.
Break down work scope into WBS, activities, and deliverables.
Integrate schedules across multiple disciplines, subcontractors, and vendors.
B. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
Track and update project progress weekly / monthly.
Analyze schedule deviations and highlight critical paths and near-critical activities.
Develop recovery schedules and mitigation plans when delays occur.
Prepare dashboards, S-curves, histograms, progress reports, and executive summaries.
C. Resource & Cost Planning
Plan and forecast manpower, materials, equipment, and mobilization requirements.
Prepare resource loading, leveling, and productivity analysis.
Coordinate with cost control to link schedule with cost (Time-Now / Cost-Loaded
schedules).
D. Coordination & Interface Management
Work with engineering, procurement, construction, QA / QC, HSE, and subcontracting
teams for schedule alignment.
Ensure subcontractor schedules are aligned with the master schedule.
Participate in client meetings, progress reviews, and planning workshops.
E. Risk & Change Management
Identify schedule risks and maintain risk registers.
Lead schedule risk analysis (SRA) using tools like Monte Carlo (if applicable).
Evaluate impact of change orders, scope changes, and variation claims.
Support project claims with delay analysis (EoT)—Time Impact Analysis (TIA), As-
Planned Vs As-Built, Window analysis.
F. Systems, Processes & Compliance
Ensure planning processes follow EPC best practices and contractual specifications.
Maintain standardized planning templates, procedures, and reporting systems.
Ensure compliance with project control standards, company SOPs, and client
requirements.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related).
15 to 25+ years of planning experience in EPC projects (Oil & Gas, Power,
Infrastructure, Renewable, Petrochemical, etc.).
Strong expertise in Primavera P6 (mandatory).
Knowledge of EPC project lifecycle (FEED, Engineering, Procurement, Construction,
Pre-Comm, Commissioning).
Experience in project delay analysis, claims support, and extension of time (EoT).
Experience working with large-scale multi-million / mega EPC projects.
