Role Purpose

To lead and coordinate the end-to-end PPE Fabric operations, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of PPE fabrics (woven and knits) for monthly sales commitments, while maintaining zero customer complaints.

The role will focus on internal processes (Spinning and Twisting) and efficient oversight and integration of outsourced activities (Weaving, Knitting, Dyeing, Finishing).

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

Operational Oversight :

  • Oversee all internal operations in Spinning and Twisting.
  • Ensure outsourced vendors (weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing) meet quality, timeline, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor daily production metrics and intervene proactively to resolve bottlenecks.
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives cross functionally aimed at maximising the potential for saving cost within the business whilst ensuring that Coats "best practice" is in place
  • Vendor Coordination :

  • Find new 3rd-party vendors (dying, weaving, knitting, finishing) to ensure synchronized external process timelines and zero quality complaints.
  • Establish robust SLAs and performance tracking systems for external partners.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Legal teams to ensure all vendor contracts include clear and enforceable terms related to :
  • o Liabilities for delivery failures, production stoppages, or non-compliance.
  • o Quality Guarantees that define acceptable quality parameters, inspection procedures, and rejection protocols.
  • o Penalties & SLAs for delays, reworks, or customer complaints stemming from outsourced activities.
  • o Ensure that all contracts define measurable KPIs, escalation mechanisms, and exit clauses to protect business continuity.
  • o Maintain a vendor performance log tied to contractual obligations, enabling swift intervention and contract enforcement when required.
  • o Propose contractual updates based on recurring issues or shifting operational requirements.
  • Supply Chain & Production Planning :

  • Work closely with PP Planning & Masterdata to align production with sales forecasts, including for contractors / external vendors.
  • Ensure materials flow seamlessly across internal and external touchpoints to meet delivery targets.
  • Follow up with Supply chain on end-to-end process pipeline for pilot lot developments
  • Ensure the RM, Dyes and Chemicals are procured as per CMRSL compliance.
  • Quality Assurance :

  • Coordinate with Fabric Quality Control Manager to ensure no quality deviations occur from input to final output.
  • Implement preventive actions to eliminate the root causes of customer complaints.
  • Ensure fabrics comply with environmental, sustainability, and social compliance standards across different countries.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes and strategies for PPE fabric production
  • Conduct audit on monthly basis in all manufacturing locations, including vendors, and report findings to improve overall Quality parameters
  • Ensure SOP for testing and Process specs is defined, documented and implemented in all manufacturing operations, including with contractors / external vendors.
  • Ensure the quality consistency and reliability of PPE fabric products.
  • Follow up with PP QA team for test results from in-house and external lab and provide timely feedback to concern stakeholders for pilot lots.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Actively collaborate with Procurement, Commercial, and Manufacturing teams to ensure an optimal balance between cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Support Procurement in identifying and evaluating new fiber sources, especially for cost-effective and quality-enhancing alternatives. Initiate and foster strategic partnerships with suppliers that offer innovation, lead-time advantages, or technical differentiation.
  • Participate in vendor negotiations and supplier onboarding processes to ensure operational alignment and future scalability.
  • Escalate structural or systemic delays to Supply Chain Director promptly.
  • Team Leadership :

  • Lead a cross-functional team with indirect reports from planning, quality, logistics, and procurement.
  • Control health and safety related issues comply with Local and global requirements :

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, quality and environmental management policies, SOPs and controls across the technical function to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products / services and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Promote sustainable practices within PPE fabric development and align with the company's sustainability goals.
  • Explore eco-friendly materials, processes, and innovations for sustainable fabric solutions
  • Build a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.

  • Education, Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    Knowledge and understanding of :

  • Experience : Minimum 6 years of PPE Fabrics manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or coordination role involving multi-site or outsourced vendor management.
  • Proven experience in : Managing internal textile operations (Spinning, Twisting, etc.).
  • Coordinating external vendors (Weaving, Dyeing, Knitting, Finishing).
  • Meeting strict customer delivery commitments (OTIF, LFR, quality).
  • Leading cross-functional teams across manufacturing, supply chain, and quality functions.
  • Strong track record of driving performance through metrics, continuous improvement initiatives, and cost optimization.
  • Desirable

    Experience :

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Management.
  • Professional Qualifications : Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green / Black Belt), or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP,) and production planning tools is essential.
