Job description

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address academic, personal, and emotional concerns.
  • Listen empathetically to students’ issues and provide guidance, encouragement, and support to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Assist students in developing effective study skills, time management techniques, and coping strategies to improve academic performance and well-being.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and parents / guardians to identify students who may benefit from counseling services and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and support groups on topics related to student success, mental health, stress management, and other relevant subjects.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in counseling practices, respecting students’ privacy and autonomy.
  • Stay informed about campus resources, academic programs, and support services available to students, and refer students to appropriate resources as needed.
  • Monitor and document students’ progress, interventions, and outcomes in counseling sessions, maintaining accurate records and confidentiality.
  • Stay updated on best practices and trends in student counseling and participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive campus culture by promoting respect, diversity, and inclusion among students and staff.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude towards students’ concerns and experiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with diverse student populations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle crisis situations calmly and professionally.
  • Ethical awareness and commitment to upholding confidentiality and professional boundaries in counseling relationships.
