Role Overview : The Finance Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of customer deals — from commercial negotiation and PO receipt to delivery execution, invoicing, and final collection. This role ensures financial and contractual alignment across internal teams and customer interfaces, supporting strong cash flow, timely revenue recognition and risk mitigation across projects.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Commercial Negotiation & PO Onboarding Support commercial teams during negotiations to shape payment terms, milestones, and financial risk allocation. Review PO terms and customer contracts to ensure financial, tax, and compliance readiness. Coordinate order booking, advance payments, and internal approvals.
2. Execution Oversight & Delivery Enablement Liaise with operations, supply chain, and project teams to align delivery timelines with billing events. Ensure readiness of supporting documentation (invoices, GRNs, dispatch notes, customer acceptances, etc.). Track delivery status and performance obligations tied to financial triggers.
3. Invoicing, Collection & Financial Closure Oversee milestone billing, invoice submission, and receivables tracking. Engage with customers to resolve payment issues, documentation gaps, and follow-ups for collections. Coordinate with AR and legal for dispute resolution and overdue recovery.
4. Project Control & Reporting Maintain real-time dashboards of project financials including cash flow status, exposure, and risks. Provide periodic reporting to senior leadership on deal health, margin impact, and variance analysis. Contribute to revenue recognition and audit support.
5. Governance & Compliance Ensure compliance with Sox, internal controls, statutory obligations, and audit readiness. Identify and escalate financial or delivery risks with proposed mitigations.
Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of combined experience in accounting, finance and project management roles. Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA / CFA / CMA or CA preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards. Proven track record in managing complex customer projects with commercial, delivery, and financial responsibilities. Experience in defence, aerospace, capital equipment, or other high-value industries is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies Excellent financial acumen, including deal structuring, margin tracking, and cash flow control. Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and financial software tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics or similar). Outstanding analytical, coordination, and communication skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results under pressure.
