Job Overview :
The Finance Controller in a manufacturing organization is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and the efficient management of financial operations. This role involves leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, with a specific focus on cost control, profitability, and operational efficiency within the manufacturing environment. The Finance Controller works closely with senior management and other departments to drive strategic decisions and ensure the company's financial goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with accounting standards (e.G., GAAP, IFRS). Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Analyze financial performance and variances against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods. Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key metrics and performance indicators. Lead financial reporting processes for internal and external audits.
2. Cost Accounting & Control Implement and manage cost accounting systems to accurately track production costs and margins. Analyze and monitor direct and indirect costs related to manufacturing, including raw materials, labor, overheads, and fixed costs. Review and approve standard costing models, ensuring accuracy and reliability in cost allocation. Identify cost-saving opportunities and work with production teams to drive efficiency improvements. Conduct margin analysis on products and processes, and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with other departments (production, sales, supply chain) to gather relevant inputs. Develop annual financial plans, monitor actual performance against budgets, and provide insights into variances. Prepare rolling forecasts to adjust financial plans based on changing market conditions or production schedules. Provide financial forecasts for cash flow, capital expenditures, and working capital needs.
4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and future investments. Oversee working capital management, ensuring optimal inventory levels, receivables, and payables. Recommend strategies to improve cash conversion cycles and working capital efficiency.
5. Risk Management & Compliance Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements relevant to the manufacturing industry. Oversee internal controls and accounting procedures to prevent errors or fraud. Lead the implementation of financial policies and procedures to safeguard the company’s assets. Liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process and resolve any audit findings.
6. Financial Strategy & Decision Support Provide strategic financial insights and advice to senior management to support key decisions on investments, pricing, capital expenditures, and new product development. Evaluate and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes and technologies that drive financial and operational efficiency. Support capital expenditure decisions, ensuring financial models and ROI analyses are robust. Collaborate with other departments to assess the financial impact of new business initiatives, expansions, or product launches.
7. Leadership & Team Management Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance on financial reporting, analysis, and process improvements. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including production managers, supply chain teams, and senior leadership. Ensure team members have the resources and training they need to perform effectively. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging best practices and innovation within the finance team.

B. Com (required). CA (must)
Experience :
7+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, manufacturing operations, and financial reporting. Experience working with ERP systems (e.G., SAP) and advanced Excel modeling. Proven track record in managing budgets, financial forecasting, and cost management within a manufacturing setting.
