Geospatial Data Engineer

About the Role

Are you a technology fan and want to make the world more resilient in the light of climate change and growing natural catastrophe risks? Do you want to be part of shaping the design and development of SwissRes Geo landscape components (e.g. map visualizations, high performance lookups, etc). We are growing our team of experts, and you can be an important part of it!

We are looking for a keen Geospatial Engineer with an interest in working on business requirements, who will work closely with the Product Owner, Developers and Business Owners to deliver on the product roadmap and vision.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Geo Operations, e.g. serve geospatial data to business applications, create automation pipelines
• Contribute to squad product development, e.g. develop prototypes in Python, or Mockups with various tools as required (QGIS, Swagger)
• Perform business analysis and requirements engineering for Geo Services
• Lead development workstreams and hold Developers accountable for delivering completely and consistently on the acceptance criteria
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with orientation to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
• Ability to work with tight deadlines, prioritize and re-prioritize around changing organizational objectives and timelines
• Exposure to agile development approaches (e.g. Scrum) and familiarity with tools like Azure DevOps, Confluence
• Guide Development team on geospatial standards
