Role Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and data-driven Category Lead to own and scale our vertical commerce categories including Clothing, Toys, and Consumer Products. This role demands strong customer insight, analytical rigor, and cross-functional collaboration to drive growth, improve margins, and elevate the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Business Ownership & Strategy
- Own the end-to-end P&L for the assigned category(ies)
- Define short- and long-term category strategies to drive revenue, profitability, and customer engagement
- Conduct competitive benchmarking, consumer trend analysis, and seasonality-based planning
- Identify white space opportunities and champion new initiatives for assortment expansion or pricing innovation
Assortment Planning & Vendor Management
Curate and expand product assortment based on customer needs, emerging trends, and data insightsIdentify and onboard new vendors and suppliers, ensuring high product quality, timely availability, and favorable commercial termsNegotiate pricing, margins, return terms, and SLAs to optimize supply-side economicsPerformance Management & Execution
Design and execute category-level campaigns and merchandising strategies in partnership with the marketing teamWork with operations, supply chain, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment and inventory accuracyMonitor performance metrics like GMV, AOV, conversion rate, sell-through, margin, and return rates - taking quick action where neededCross-Functional Collaboration
Liaise with product, tech, and design teams to improve the customer experience (navigation, search, content, filters, etc.)Collaborate with finance and analytics teams to forecast demand, track targets, and derive actionable insightsWork with content and community teams to integrate storytelling with product 2-4 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or buying in e-commerce or vertical commerceStrong understanding of consumer behavior, especially in kids / family-focused categoriesHighly analytical, data-driven, and experienced in managing category performance metricsExcellent negotiation and communication skillsPrior experience in clothing, toys, or FMCG sectors is preferredMBA or equivalent from a reputed institute is a plusWhat We Offer
