2027 Defence Graduate Program - Intelligence Pathway

The Department of Defence are now accepting applications for the 2027 Graduate Program – Intelligence Pathway.

The Defence Graduate Program is one of the largest of its kind in the APS and offers you with unique opportunities that won’t be available anywhere else. Commencing in February 2027, as a Defence intelligence graduate you will undertake multiple rotations in key work areas to develop a diverse range of skills and experiences. The information you learn and the experiences you have as a graduate will provide you an unwavering foundation for future success.

Please note, we are currently seeking applications from people interested in our Intelligence Pathway only. We will advertise roles for the remainder of the 2027 Graduate Program from February 2026.

The Intelligence Pathway

The Defence Intelligence Group (DIG) deliver priority-driven intelligence and analysis products to support Australian Defence Force operations; and set intelligence policies and frameworks to meet essential intelligence needs.

DIG is made up of the following four (4) divisions :

• The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) is the lead agency for geospatial data, information and intelligence within Defence.
• Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO) analyses information on global events from a range of sources.
• The Intelligence Capability Division (ICD) drives investment in the delivery of training, intelligence discipline skilling, infrastructure and technology to meet the needs of a growing intelligence workforce.
• Intelligence Policy and Priorities (IPP) leads development of a whole of Defence approach to key intelligence policy issues, sets Defence intelligence strategy and engagement programs, and coordinates the setting of Defence intelligence priorities.

Eligibility

To be eligible you must :

• Be an Australian citizen
• Be able to obtain and maintain a Positive Vetting security clearance
• Have completed an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (a Bachelor degree), or higher equivalent, between 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2026, that is relevant to the work of Defence
• Successfully undergo a Defence Intelligence Suitability Assessment, and where required, a Spatial Aptitude Assessment.
