About the role and team
We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Talent Acquisition Advisor to join our People & Culture team in Melbourne or Sydney, on a 12 month fixed-term contract.
The People & Culture team at Hall & Wilcox includes sub-teams / functions for : Generalist P&C, Early Careers, Talent Acquisition, Diversity, Inclusion & Wellness, Learning & Development, Performance & Remuneration, and Systems & Reporting. The P&C team reports to the Director - People & Culture and is part of the broader Corporate Services team for the business and partnership of Hall & Wilcox.
Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, the Talent Acquisition Advisor will work closely with the rest of the Talent Acquisition team and the broader People & Culture team to continously uplift the firm's recruitment processes and systems and ensure that the firm has access to high quality and diverse talent pools across Australia.
The Talent Acquisition team manage the end-to-end recruitment function for all roles across all offices of the firm (excluding partner level and early careers recruitment). This role will act as an ambassador of HW and is instrumental in building the profile and brand of the firm nationally through liaising with candidates and external agencies and service providers.
Your responsibilities will include :
- taking job briefs from internal stakeholders;
- drafting position descriptions and job advertisements;
- considering and advising on appropriate recruitment sources;
- briefing external recruitment agencies, as and when appropriate;
- screening applications and recommending shortlists;
- scheduling interviews, including meeting room and MS Teams bookings;
- attending and leading interviews, alongside other firm representatives;
- collating and providing feedback to candidates;
- recommending and negotiating remuneration, in consultation with the broader People & Culture team;
- making verbal and written offers;
- working with the rest of the People & Culture team to manage any internal mobility / recruitment where appropriate;
- ensuring that Hiring Partners and Managers are kept informed of the progress of recruitment campaigns, including escalating any issues to the Talent Acquisition or People & Culture Managers;
- proactively using direct sourcing methods with a view to reducing recruitment spend;
- researching and creating market maps / LinkedIn searches for specific vacancies and making targeted approaches to selected candidates after consultation with Hiring Partners / Managers;
- building and managing relationships and service from recruitment agencies, including ensuring they are equipped to represent our firm when liaising with candidates;
- managing relationships with service providers, including LinkedIn, Seek, the applicant tracking system (ATS), Insource and others;
- project work related to the implementation of the new ATS, including reviewing processes and the use of technology and systems in all recruitment activities and interactions;
- co-ownership of the ATS, including utilising the ATS to its full capability to manage all recruitment;
- working with People & Culture Co-ordinators to generate employment offers and any other relevant documentation;
- post-acceptance of offers, handing over candidates to People & Culture / Learning & Development to initiate onboarding processes and induction; and
- advising on and devising appropriate recruitment policies, processes, documentation and collateral.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience :
- ideally a minimum of three years of experience in a specialist legal recruitment role, either in-house within a law firm or within a legal recruitment agency;
- proven experience in end-to-end recruitment within a legal or professional services environment;
- experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and / or other social media tools and applicant tracking systems;
- advanced interviewing skills, including experience interviewing candidates with a legal background;
- a strong client (internal stakeholder) service focus and commercial / business acumen;
- outstanding attention to detail;
- excellent organisational skills and experience in managing a large number of roles and competing priorities and demands;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop rapport and build strong relationships with stakeholders;
- the ability to think outside of the box and adopt new and creative search methodologies;
- a team player who enjoys working co-operatively as part of a collegiate team, and can also work autonomously; and
- strong ethics and integrity and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
