JOB TITLE : [KOREANS ONLY] CONSTRUCTION MANAGER_INDIA
POSITION DESCRIPTION :
The Construction Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all on-site construction activities to ensure that project execution meets the required standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost. This role provides day-to-day leadership to the construction teams and contractors, ensuring adherence to design specifications, regulatory requirements, and project objectives. The Construction Manager works closely with the Project Manager, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Safety, and Controls teams to maintain seamless coordination across all work fronts and to proactively identify issues that may impact construction progress.
WORK LOCATION :
A specific project has not yet been finalized. Samsung C&T is building a pool of manpower that can be deployed to major PMC projects in India. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted upon project commencement and site assignment.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILIITES :
Construction Planning & Site Mobilization
- Develop site mobilization plans and coordinate the establishment of temporary facilities, logistics routes, utilities, and access control.
- Review construction methodology, sequencing, and resource plans submitted by contractors.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and permitting teams to ensure all prerequisites for construction commencement are fulfilled.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, local regulations, and project standards during mobilization.
Site Execution Management
Oversee daily construction activities across all trades to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedule.Conduct routine site inspections to verify workmanship, material quality, and adherence to safety and quality standards.Manage interface coordination among various contractors and ensure work fronts are adequately prepared for execution.Identify risks, constraints, and deviations that may affect construction progress and implement timely mitigation actions.Contractor Coordination & Performance Monitoring
Lead weekly and daily coordination meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.Review and validate contractor progress reports, manpower deployment, equipment utilization, and productivity levels.Monitor adherence to construction schedules and support the Project Controls team in validating progress measurements.Ensure consistent communication and issue resolution across all site stakeholders.Quality Control & Assurance
Ensure contractor compliance with project quality standards, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and material approval processes.Coordinate with the Quality team to address non-conformities, corrective actions, and inspection requests.Validate that construction activities follow approved shop drawings, method statements, and engineering instructions.Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure strict adherence to the project’s HSE plan.Validate contractor safety documentation, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permits-to-work.Participate in site safety walks, incident investigations, and implementation of corrective / preventive actions.Ensure all personnel comply with site safety regulations and emergency response protocols.Resource, Material, and Logistics Coordination
Oversee material deliveries, storage, handling, and traceability to avoid damage, delays, or shortages.Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to track critical materials and resolve supply bottlenecks.Ensure contractor resources (manpower, equipment) are adequate and efficiently deployed to meet schedule targets.Technical Issue Resolution & Engineering Support
Provide technical guidance to contractors and ensure proper interpretation of drawings and specifications.Coordinate with Engineering teams for resolving design clarifications, RFIs, discrepancies, and site technical issues.Support constructability reviews and propose solutions that optimize safety, quality, and productivity.Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily and weekly site reports capturing progress, constraints, productivity, and site conditions.Support progress validation for monthly reporting, billing certifications, and milestone achievements.Maintain organized construction records, inspection documentation, and site correspondence.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum of 15 years of construction experience, including at least 10 years in large-scale building or mixeduse projects, born from 1964 and above.Fluency in both English and Korean is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.Strong experience working within PMC or EPCM environments with multiple contractor interfaces.Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.Formal training in construction methods, safety management, or quality control is preferred.Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and advanced MS Excel;experience with Power BI or site-management platforms is advantageous.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, resource planning, and interface management.Familiarity with contract requirements, technical specifications, and their impact on schedule, cost, and quality.High attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and ability to provide practical site-based solutions.Excellent interpersonal skills for managing contractors, consultants, and site stakeholders.Ability to work under pressure, respond to critical issues quickly, and support executive-level reporting.ESSENTIAL BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
