Role Summary As a senior Geohazard and Geospatial professional, you will be working closely with Geotechnical, Geology and Risk & Resilience teams in WSP India on global projects. You will take ownership of multiple projects and be accountable for quality and maintaining high technical standards. Ideal candidate for this role would have past experience of working in Transport and Civil Infrastructure domains especially in quantitative risk assessment of geo-hazards using geospatial data and tools. You would be expected to have an educational background in GIS plus Geology / Geohazards with at least, 8+ years of professional experience.
Responsibilities Provide consultancy to clients and civil infrastructure teams around geospatial and geohazard related aspects particularly in investigations, analysis, reporting, design and observation for engineering projects. Gather spatial data for a variety of resilience and other projects, construct and manage database, analyse data to provide valuable insights. Produce spatial maps using best practice cartography Use programming to generate the required spatial outputs and where necessary present data through web portals. Maintain knowledge of appropriate technical standards, legislation, codes of practice and New Zealand standards. Ensure assignments are completed on schedule or in a timely manner and within budget. Act as a Task Manager on projects assigned and ensure that all deliverables meet client’s explicit and implicit needs. Track industry trends and best practice and standards in GIS Work in sync with multidisciplinary, crosscultural and geographically distributed teams; Integrate technical inputs from project peers to deliver the project outcome. Contribute on an on-going basis toward maintaining a safe working environment both for yourself and for those working with you or in your close vicinity; Ensure that confidentiality is respected, and proper work ethics are maintained at all times.
Desired Skills Ability to manage large scale projects, investigate, design & supervise juniors; Assist in the preparation of project briefs and fee estimates; Prepare and update project plans. Good cartographic skills in displaying information; Familiarity with 3-dimensional data and ability to produce 3D maps and models. Strong capability in digitising and capturing data using ArcGIS or qGIS and ability to work with different ESRI suite of software; Aptitude for working across different platforms and spatial formats. Proficient in data management skills; Good analytical skills and attention to detail; Experience with quantitative risk assessment tools. Expertise in python scripting and a range of digital tools used in GIS domain. Good interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communication and particularly the ability to present ideas, information and advice in a way that is understandable by a range of audiences.
Software Proficiencies Demonstrable hands-on proficiencies in a broad range of GIS tools, especially
ESRI ArcGIS (both desktop and online) Coding and scripting skills using
Python, JavaScript, SQL, R, HTML / CSS, C++ / C# Experience in quantitative Risk Assessment tools like
Risk, Frontline Solver
etc. or similar preferred.
Qualifications MSc or MTech
in Geology or Geo-Hazards or Geotechnical Engineering; With
PG Diploma
in Geographic Information System. OR
MSc or MTech
in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System with
BSc or BTech
in Geology or Earth Science or Geoscience domains. Membership of a relevant international professional body preferred.
Experience 8+ years
