Systems Principal Engineer

Summary

As a part of this team, you will be responsible for driving initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Engineering function and interfaces with other functions to provide effective coordination of metrics, dashboards, functional processes, and cross-functional initiative coordination. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Interact with all business and customer partners to understand their problems and needs.
• Define the needs in a stakeholder needs document which is reviewed and approved by cross functional team members.
• Translate customer needs, business constraints, and regulatory requirements into product functional and performance system requirements.
• Conduct risk management activities including planning, risk analysis, risk evaluation and control.
• Lead the engineering team through the development of system architecture options. Objectively and holistically communicate trade-offs during the architecture selection process.
• Participate in system and subsystem architecture and design process.
• Analyse and propose solutions for product and customer issues.
• Decompose and allocate system level requirements into module level requirements.
• Plan and look after reliability and robustness activities.
• Lead the technical team through technical risk identification and management as well as issue and test defect resolution.
• Ensure changes are analyzed holistically and impacts are fully understood.
