Job description

To lead all regulatory, legal, and statutory compliance functions for the solar and battery manufacturing plant, ensuring the organization operates within the legal framework and maintains the highest standards of governance, licensing, and plant-level compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely acquisition and renewal of all permits, consents, clearances, and licenses required under environmental, safety, electrical, and industrial laws.
  • Coordinate with central and state regulatory bodies such as MNRE, MoEFCC, MPCB, CPCB, DISCOMs, and State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
  • Monitor and advise on policy changes affecting solar and battery manufacturing (e.g., ALMM, BIS standards, Battery Waste Management Rules).
  • Ensure 100% compliance with applicable laws including :
  • Factories Act
  • Environmental Protection Act
  • Electricity Act
  • Hazardous Waste & Battery Rules
  • Labour Laws, EHS Norms, Boiler Act, etc.
  • Manage internal and third-party audits for legal, environmental, and operational compliance.
  • Maintain updated compliance registers, legal records, and plant documentation.
  • Oversee digital and physical documentation systems to withstand scrutiny from audits or inspections.
  • Ensure all plant operations align with the ISO, OHSAS, and environmental norms applicable to the industry.
  • Serve as the plants primary liaison for external legal counsel, government inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide regular compliance updates and risk assessments to senior management and the board.
  • Develop internal policies, SOPs, and checklists that institutionalize compliance and minimize legal risk.
  • Train plant leadership, operational staff, and support functions on evolving regulatory Graduate / Postgraduate in Law, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Industrial Compliance.
  • 1525 years of experience, with a strong track record in regulatory affairs, legal compliance, and plant-level statutory governance.
  • Experience in solar, battery, energy storage, or chemical / process manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
