API Tester

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled API Tester with 4 years of experience in validating RESTful and SOAP APIs. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills experience in automation tools and the ability to work collaboratively in Agile environments.

Key Responsibilities :

Design develop and execute manual and automated test cases for API testing.

Perform functional integration regression and performance testing of APIs.

Work closely with developers product owners and business analysts to understand API requirements.

Validate request and response payloads headers authentication and error codes.

Write and maintain automation scripts using tools like Postman RestAssured SoapUI or Karate .

Create and manage test data for various testing scenarios.

Document test cases test execution results and defect reports.

Participate in Agile / Scrum ceremonies and provide test estimates.

Use tools like JIRA TestRail Zephyr or Xray to manage test cases and defects.

Ensure high-quality deliverables through continuous improvement and automation.

Required Skills :

4 years of hands-on experience in API testing.

Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs.

Experience with Postman Swagger Fiddler or similar tools.

Good understanding of JSON XML HTTP methods status codes and API authentication (OAuth Basic Auth etc.).

Experience with test automation tools : RestAssured Karate SoapUI ReadyAPI or similar.

Knowledge of scripting in Java JavaScript Python or Groovy is a plus.

Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and integration with tools like Jenkins Git or Azure DevOps .

Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in performance testing APIs using JMeter or Gatling .

Experience with microservices architecture and testing in a cloud environment (AWS Azure GCP).

Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker Kubernetes) is a plus.

ISTQB or any other QA certification is a bonus.
